Actor Heath Ledger Dead at 28
Heath Ledger Heath Ledger Heath Ledger as The Joker in "The Dark Knight" Actor Heath Ledger was found dead in a New York residence, apparently from a drug overdose.

Ledger, who was nominated for a best actor Oscar for Brokeback Mountain (2005) had separated from his former fiancee Michelle Williams in September. The pair, who met on the set of that film, have a 2-year-old daughter.

Ledger recently finished filming the Batman sequel, The Dark Knight (2008), in which he plays The Joker.

This month he had been working on The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, directed by Terry Gilliam, which was due to be released in 2009.

Academy Awards Nominations
The nominees for the 80th Annual Academy Awards have been announced. The ceremony will take place on 24 February 2008.

Actor Brad Renfro Dead at 25
Brad Renfro Actor Brad Renfro was found dead at his home in Los Angeles. The cause of death has not been determined, but Renfro has a history of drug abuse.

Renfro, a former child-actor, has played in such movies as The Client, Sleepers, Apt Pupil, Skipped Parts, Bully, Ghost World and The Jacket.

He recently finished shooting a thriller called The Informers with Winona Ryder, Mickey Rourke, Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger.

Golden Globes Awards
Golden Globes Winners for the 65th Annual Golden Globes Awards have been announced.

No huge surprises there. Of the 10 predictions (see below), 7 were correct.

Nominations for the 80th Academy Awards will be announced on 22 January 2008 and the ceremony will take place on 24 February 2008.
