Scanners Remake Delayed
Scanners The remake to David Cronenberg's Scanners, which was scheduled to be released in October 2008, has been delayed. It appears that currently the movie has no release date at all.

Here is a 3-minutes clip about the making of The Fly opera. Unfortunately, there is a French voice-over, but you can still hear Howard Shore talking about his creation and see David Cronenberg and the stage.

The Fly Opera - World Premiere
The Fly Opera The Fly Opera will receive its world premiere on July 2 in Paris, at the Theatre du Chatelet, with subsequent performances on July 2, 5, 8, 11 and 13.

It will then be presented in its US premiere by LA Opera, on September 7, at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Arthur C. Clarke Dies at 90
Arthur C. Clarke British science fiction novelist Arthur C. Clarke died on Tuesday - after suffering from breathing problems - in Sri Lanka, where he lived for more than 50 years. He was 90 years old.

Clarke suffered from post-polio syndrome. He said, "being completely wheelchaired doesn't stop my mind from roaming the universe".

Having written some 100 books, Clarke is perhaps best known for 2001: A Space Odyssey. He also co-wrote the screenplay for the film directed by Stanley Kubrick.

Clarke pioneered the concept that satellites could serve as telecommunications relays.

Director Anthony Minghella Dead at 54
Anthony Minghella Director Anthony Minghella, who won an Oscar for The English Patient, is dead at age 54. He died of a brain hemorrhage in Charing Cross Hospital, London, following an operation the previous week to remove cancer of the tonsils and neck.

The Dreamside
Yesterday I discovered a very cool band called The Dreamside. They were formed in The Netherlands in 1994. Their music is most often described as ethereal Goth rock.

Kill Ugly Radio Presents: Old Sounds for New Flesh
Videodrome Kill Ugly Radio presents a 60 minutes ambient exploration of David Cronenberg's Videodrome, utilizing Howard Shore's brooding, minimal score and many sounds and dialog from the movie itself.

If you haven't heard it yet - get it now. The guy responsible for it did an amazing job and the result is fantastic. You'll never get tired listening to it.

Film Composer Leonard Rosenman Dead at 83
Leonard Rosenman Leonard Rosenman, one of Hollywood's most prolific film and TV composers, died Tuesday in California, at age 83.

Rosenman won the oscars for Barry Lyndon (1975) and Bound for Glory (1976) and was nominated for Cross Creek (1983) and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986). He also wrote the music to The Lord of the Rings (1978), RoboCop 2 (1990) and the James Dean movies East of Eden (1955) and Rebel Without a Cause (1955).

The Wrestler (2009)
The Wrestler (2009) Darren Aronofsky is about to finish filming The Wrestler (2009) with Mickey Rourke and he invites everyone to visit the official site and sign up. If you live near by he even invites you to visit the set and see them finish the shooting.

According to the official site, the "Final Show" is on March 14th and 15th at the Ring of Honor Wrestling, Baker Theater, 41 West Blackwell St., Dover, NJ 07801.
