The 2008 Make it Short Film Project

The Make it Short Movie Project plays a role in educating communities on the art of film production by allowing the general public the opportunity to experience life on a "real" film set, in front and behind the camera. This is the 4th year of this Canadian program and this year director David Cronenberg will serve as an executive producer on the movie The Plan. An application form to take part will be online on April 11th. Auditions are on April 26th. Shooting is on May 3rd and 4th. Read an interview with Cronenberg about this.

Mike Retter Site

Mike Retter is a Cronenberg fan and a regular visitor at The Plasma Pool. He also paints and has a gallery on his Official Site, which he invites you all to watch. You can see there four paintings that he made around the subject of "The Television". He did them whilst working in a community access TV station. Charlton Heston Dead at 84

Actor Charlton Heston died Saturday night at the age of 84. In 2002 Heston had announced that he was battling Alzheimer's disease, and had withdrawn from professional appearances after the diagnosis. Heston won an Oscar for his portrayal of Ben-Hur and was well-known for his portrayal of historical figures such as Michelangelo, El Cid, Moses, and John the Baptist. Heston's fame later in life was highlighted by his polarizing views on gun control, as the actor was elected president of the National Rifle Association in 1998 and vigorously defended the rights of gun owners throughout the country. Heston appeared in such movies as The Ten Commandments (1956), Touch of Evil (1958), Ben-Hur (1959), El Cid (1961), Planet of the Apes (1968), The Omega Man (1971), Soylent Green (1973), Airport 1975 (1974), Earthquake (1974), True Lies (1994) and In the Mouth of Madness (1995). One of his latest roles was a guest appearance in Planet of the Apes (2001).
