Comedian Harvey Korman Dead at Age 81
Harvey KormanHarvey Korman Comedian Harvey Korman, a multiple-Emmy award winner best known for his work on The Carol Burnett Show and in comedies such as Blazing Saddles and The Pink Panther Strikes Again, died Thursday at the age of 81.

Korman appeared in 4 of Mel Brooks' movies: Blazing Saddles (1974), High Anxiety (1977), History of the World: Part I (1981) and Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995).

Sydney Pollack Dead at Age 73
Sydney Pollack Acclaimed director, producer, and actor Sydney Pollack has died of cancer at age 73.

Pollack directed such movies as They Shoot Horses Don't They?, Tootsie, Out of Africa,Three Days of the Condor, The Way We Were, Havana, The Firm, The Interpreter.

In addition to producing almost 50 movies, he was also a brilliant actor and participated in movies such as Husbands and Wives, Eyes Wide Shut, Michael Clayton.

Cronenberg's Next Project
According to SlashFilm, director David Cronenberg is a contender to direct an upcoming English language remake of the Spanish movie Los Cronocrimenes (Timecrimes) (2007).

The original sci-fi thriller followed a man who accidentally gets into a time machine and travels back in time nearly an hour, finding himself in a series of disasters of unforeseeable consequences.

Timothy J. Sexton is writing the English adaptation.

Tel-Aviv Student Film Festival
Sarah Polley The Tel-Aviv 12th International Student Film Festival will take place between 31 May and 7 June in the Cinematheque of Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Confirmed guests are actress Sarah Polley and directors Julio Medem and John Sayles.

London Fields Update
According to Londonist and Guardian, Martin Amis' darkly comic novel London Fields is being made into a film.

Originally announced in 2001 with David Cronenberg directing, the project had been shelved as of 2006. But now, with David Mackenzie slated as the new director, the possibility of the film seeing the light of day is once again alive.
